Deposits for Manchesters will be accepted in September for 2022 puppies. We are temporarily not accepting deposits.
Adoption forms are still available as long as you understand that it may not be until 2023 now before we would have a puppy available. Deposits for pups for 2023, will not be taken until Fall 2022.
You can be on our waiting list without a deposit for a Manchester. However, if a deposit comes in before yours you could be bumped down in position. This is to ensure we have homes for our puppies by the time of breeding. The deposit also holds your position in the list.
For 2022 puppies, we are taking application forms but not deposits until Fall 2021. You position on the list for 2022 will be held in order that we received your application. If we have more puppies available in 2022, we will notify those on the list at that time and they then can give a deposit.
For US people due to the border closure those that have not yet sent a deposit will keep their position until the time of breeding. As we do not want to hold deposits ahead of time not knowing where the border stands.
We have 2 adult dogs available to homes with Manchester experience. One eight year old female and a 6 year old female that we would like to go into new homes. These are to go separately. For more information call Sandy at 905-382-6627.
Older Manchesters need someone to work with them to gain trust so we only place them in homes close to us so it is an easy drive to visit and have them visit as well to get to know their new people and home before they leave. It is gradual procedure to settle them in. Hourly, afternoon, day visits in their new homes before staying overnight to be sure they feel safe there.
Thank you to all those that have shown interest in these wonderful breed.
We try to always have homes lined up for our puppies prior to doing a breeding. Our pups are usually all spoken for before they are born with deposits.
As this is a rare and vulnerable breed with only a few breeders especially in Canada and Eastern and Mid-Eastern States.
SORRY, WE ONLY HAVE STANDARDS usually 20 to 26 lbs. Due to overseas bloodlines which Breed Standards go by height not weight.
Co-ownership homes are sometimes available to those that will be willing for their dog to be shown or bred. Available for Canadian Owners. This allows us to extend our breeding program with the dog having it’s own home to have more love and attention than a multi-dog household. If you are willing to help keep the breed thriving please let us know you would be interested in this option.
We are still adding people to our waiting list for Rough Collie and Smooth Collies. Litter is due to be born September 9th both varieties expected in the litter. Deposits will be taken when variety and sexes is known. We try to only breed when we have a waiting list which there is one started for this litter of which I am planning on keeping two puppies myself.
We breed for health, temperament, and structure for a healthy pet and/or show dog.
All our dogs live in our house and our place is inspected yearly by the Niagara Falls Humane Society before we can get our kennel license.
Below is Cheyanne a pup from the 2017 litter of Cooper and Lady.
The picture is of Moonshadows Cheyenne a pup we showed 2017 and 2018 out of Cooper and Lady. Got her Canadian Championship in 2018.
Currently there are two female Manchester terrier adults available that are 6 and 8 years of age. They are or will be spayed. Love to cuddle! Reason for re-homing is they do not get along with some of the other dogs they are living with. They would do better in a one dog or two dog home. Experienced Manchester or Rescue homes wanted. These dogs will need people to work with them to adjust to new homes. Generally it will take a month or so before they will feel safe in their new homes.
MANCHESTER TERRIER PLANNED LITTERS –
Manchester Terrier waiting list is now full for 2021.Thank you to all those that have shown interest in this wonderful breed.
We do not expect to have any Manchester puppies now until 2022. However there is times that people have life changes or we do not have the right sex so they have to wait for a later date to get their puppy. This could make more puppies available. There is also a chance of an extra litter if we import a new bitch.
There is an adoption form to fill in, if interested. This helps us insure the potential owner and the Manchester Terrier breed is a good match. For a form please email Moonshadowspage@sympatico.ca or email@example.com. You can also messenger Jodi at https://www.facebook.com/moonshadowskennel.
We will only breed when there are potential homes for our puppies. $100 deposits will be taken to hold a puppy and keep your position on the waiting list. You can defer to the next litter. You may be on our waiting list without a deposit however, this may mean you will be moved down the waiting list if others are willing to pay deposit before you are.
The number of litters we have per year depends on how many potential homes we have for our pups. Though we usually only have 2 to 3 litters a year. We are not a big kennel our dogs are our house pets as well. The most litters we could have in a year is 3.
Generally we do not bred if we do not have the right homes lined up for our puppies. We try not to bring pups into the world if we do not know they have potential homes lined up.
Moonshadows is a small kennel who has been raising and owned Manchester Terriers for over 30 years. Jodi joined us about 8 years ago.
We only breed for pups to go home in the warmer weather so they get the adequate socialization and exposure to different sounds and environments.
We start when the pups are 3 days old with the Bio-Sensor program and as they grow we introduce new things into their lives. Including early socialization, new environments, new scents, other dogs all this helps them learn and adjust easier to new surrounding, people and activities in their lives.
We bred for health, structure and temperament. We do not want to see our breed go extinct which is our purpose for breeding. This breed is much to great a companion to have that happen. It is a vulnerable breed now and their numbers are declining.
Consider a purebred to save the breed!
We have overseas bloodlines so our Manchesters tend to be bigger than American lines. This is due to the fact that only in America are the Toy and Standards considered the same breed. Also, Overseas lines do not have weight in their Breed Standards. So usually our bitches 20-24 lbs and dogs are 22 – 26 lbs. Fifteen to seventeen inches at the shoulder.
Occasionally, we help home adult dogs that are in need of new homes. Some of these may need patience and understanding to allow them to trust and accept their new homes. Please call if interested if finding out more about how to keep you name down for this. 905-382-6627.
Moonshadows in Niagara Falls with Sandy & Simon Cunniff may do a Rough Collie and Smooth Collie litter if enough interest from potential puppy owners. We like to be sure we have homes for our puppies before they go to homes. All colours should be in this litter.
Next Collie litter will be born around April 4th, 2021. Smooths and Roughs and all colours expected.

We are dedicated to producing quality Standard Manchester Terriers, Smooth and Rough Collies for pet and show. All of our dogs are our loving pets and show dogs. They are not kennel dogs but part of the family.
We specialize in European and Australian Bloodlines as I do not feel that a Toy Manchester is the same breed. Only in the States and Canada that I know of can you have a Standard Manchester with no Standards in it’s bloodline.
However, since we breed for pure Standard Manchesters most of ours tend to be larger than the recommended size for the Breed Standard here in America.
Our main purpose in breeding is to preserve this breed with healthy, quality, and good temperament. I am one of the few breeders that can run same sex dogs together with each other without conflicts. This is a breed that is on the vulnerable breed list in it’s Country of Origin. They are way to good a companion dog that loves to please and be with it’s owner for it to go extinct.
Our first Collie was a drop off dog. When he passed away of old age, we decided to get into Smooth and Rough Collies. The Smooth Collie has less of the work than a rough as far as grooming goes. However, they shed more constantly. Both have the same wonderful temperment.
Our house and where we keep our dogs is inspected every year by the Niagara Falls Animal Control Officers to become a registered Kennel in Niagara Falls.
Our next love is Canadian Horses. They are like large dogs. Love to greet and follow you around. Our horses are now very old. But in very good shape and we can still ride them. We also have a Kentucky Mountain Horse mare broken to drive so we enjoy taking her out on buggy rides.
Kent and Jodi Parkinson reside in Hamilton. Jodi has shown and raised her own Manchesters now for a number of years sharing the Moonshadows Kennel name. Jodi looks after our facebook page, and shows in confirmation, agility, rally and obedience trials.
